“The first responsibility of a leader is to define reality.” Max DePree
Assessment is the first step in knowing what’s working, what isn’t and why. To organize and prepare a development plan requires facts and judgement. Without a detailed grasp of the facts, you jeopardize the plan for achieving what you need to accomplish. Without an awareness of the wider context, the market or trends you may over-promise or under deliver on your schedule, your results or your budget.
We are experienced in understanding all aspects of your development program. We have practiced the skills and art of fundraising for 30 years. We understand systems, people, results and records. Everything is analyzed with care and attention to details. We understand the intersection where staff, board members, and donors meet— and where strategy and creative thinking achieve exceptional results.
An assessment is a well-crafted diagnostic and evaluation which effectively measures what’s working and what isn’t. It’s the “what” and the “so what” that lets you say “therefore.”
A written report and oral presentation of the recommendations is made to your team— and to the Board, if appropriate. Often, there’s an interim discussion of findings with the senior staff before final recommendations are put in writing.
